Troubleshooting (mobile phone version)

When trying to upload, I'm getting "Network error" or "Could not connect to server" or the application just stays in the "Establishing connection..." state. What am I doing wrong?
If you have a Sony Ericsson T610, Z600
When applications connect to the internet using a Sony Ericsson T610 or Z600, the connection should be a GPRS/Internet connection, not a WAP or MMS connection. You can find the different connection types configured on your phone by selecting Connectivity -> Data comm -> Data accounts.

You need to refer to your network provider to find out how to configure your phone to support the GPRS/internet connection. If you are a norwegian telenor mobil user, this page shows you how to setup the connection.

The connection used by the applications is configured under Connectivity -> Wap options -> WAP profiles You need an active "WAP profile" that connects using the GPRS/Internet account.

If you have a Siemens M65
Open the folder where you installed Expense Sharer, normally found under My stuff -> Applications or Games. Highlight Expense Sharer and select Options -> HTTP profile. Under Providers, you must select an internet capable profile. WAP or MMS connections can normally not be used by Expense Sharer on Siemens M65 since Expense Sharer uses the http protocol to upload data, but this can depend on your network provider.

To configure an internet connection on Siemens M65, select Setup -> Connectivity -> Data services and create a new entry with the correct internet settings. The correct settings is normally provided by your network provider. If f.ex. you are a norwegian Telenor mobil user, the settings can be found on this page.

Once you have configured an internet connection profile, remember to configure Expense Sharer to use it, as explained in the first paragraph in this section.

If you have another phone
In general, Expense Sharer needs an internet connection to upload its data. Read through the sections above and try finding the corresponding menus on your phone. Most phones are only setup to use WAP and MMS connections, and these often have limited functionality (network provider and phone dependent).
